Valediction ceremony of Science Fair and Science Drama Contest

The valediction ceremony of 3-days City-Level Science Fair and 2-days City-Level Science Drama contest  organized at Regional Science City, Lucknow held today on November 15, 2019. Prof. M.K. Dutta, Post Graduate Research, Abdul Kalam Azad Technical University, Lucknow was present as the Chief Guest on this concluding program while Dr. Anand Akhila, former Senior Scientist from CIMAP along with 250 students / teachers from various schools were also present.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. M.K. Dutta motivated the students to get aware on the latest information of science & technology. He congratulated the Regional Science City for organizing such programs and said that through these modes, the message of various evils spread in the society like superstition, child labor, health and cleanliness, environmental problems etc. which is easily seen in all the sections of the society. He thanked the authorities of Regional Science City, Lucknow for providing such a platform to future artists/scientists. Apart from this, he also appreciated the amazing science models displayed on various aspects of science during the science fair.

Welcoming all the participants and the audience, Dr. Raj Mehrotra, the Project Co-ordinator of the Regional Science City, Lucknow said that Science Fair and Science Drama contest are organized every year and these Contests are the part of the efforts of Regional Science City. Appreciating the efforts of the participants, he said that students, teachers and their parents have worked hard for presenting such science dramas and science models which are helpful in conveying various messages of scientific information to the society.

In the City Level Science Drama Contest, 8 teams from different schools of Lucknow presented their plays in their own style such as Brightway Inter College, Aliganj presented its drama on “Swachh hawa aur Swachh paani, swasth jeevan ki yahi kahani”, St. Joseph’s School , Rajajipuram “Gandhi zinda hai”, Krishna Convent Inter College “Swachh Bharat Mission: Save Trees, Save Water and Cleanliness”, Shri Ayodhya Singh Memorial Inter College, ‘Energy Conservation’, DPS Academy Intuja Lucknow ‘Cleanliness, Health and hygiene’ etc. The jury members of this contest were Dr. Devashish Mishra, Bharatendu Natya Academy, Dr. RK Srivastava, former senior scientist, CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow and Mr. Raju Pandey, Theater and Film Artist, Lucknow. In the science drama contest, first prize was given to Shri Ayodhya Singh Memorial Inter College for their drama “Energy Conservation” and second prize to DPS Academy for their drama “Cleanliness, Health and Hygiene” while third prize awarded to CMS Rajajipuram for their drama on “Cleanliness, Health and Hygiene”.

In science fair, 30 individual projects and 35 team projects were displayed on global problems such as energy, traffic, food and agriculture, more irrigation in less water and ways to get more yield on less land. Some of these models such as “Gesture Control Car”, “Bionic Plant”, “Crop Rescue Boat”, “Recoil Velocity of Gun” and “Air Cooler with Plastic Waste” etc. were interesting. The jury members of this contest were Prof. Amita Kanaujia, HOD, Zoology, Department and Prof. Balak Das, from Physics Department, Lucknow University and Engineer Mirza Anas Baig, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Integral University. In the individual category of Science Fair, the first prize was given to Vipul Kumar Yadav for his model ‘A smart device for Blind People while second prize was given to Rajat Singh, Vidyagyan School Sitapur Road Lucknow for his model on ‘Farmser’s Gun’ and The third prize was awarded to Abhay Yadav, Lucknow International Public School for model on ‘Eco Friendly Car’, while in Team Projects the first prize was given to Hastakshar Singh and Aditya Singh, SKD Academy, Vikrant Khanda Gomati Nagar for their model ‘Air Pollution Reducing Machine’, second prize was given to Dakshayani Pandey and Akash Gupta of Vidyagyan School, Sitapur Road Lucknow for ‘Mission Protector’ and third prize was given to Pranav Singh Sehgal and Udayveer Singh of St. Joseph College for ‘Home Energy Conserver’.

At the end of the program, a valediction ceremony was organized in which cash prizes were awarded to the winner paritcipants by the Chief Guest. The first and second prize winning teams of Science Drama Contest and the first prize winning team of Science Fair Contest will get an opportunity to compete in the Mandal Stariya Science Fair and Science Drama Competition to be held at National Science Center, New Delhi in December 2019.
