Celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Science City

Regional Science City, Lucknow celebrated 150th birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October, 2019. On this occasion several schools namely The Indian Academy, S.K.D Academy, St. Joseph Inter college, Vani Vikas Kendra, DPS Academy, HG Foundation, Global Academy, Bal Nikunj Inter College and Ramadheen Singh Inter College participated in Sketch making contest held in two categories organized in the premises.

Along with this, a popular Science Lecture was delivered by Dr. P. K. Srivastava, former Scientist, CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow.  In his presentation Dr. Srivastava explained the problems of sanitation through slides focusing on Human Health and Hygiene. He specially emphasized on not to mess our rivers and everyone should try to clean them at least twice a month because we can only reside in a healthy and clean environment if our rivers are clean. He made his inspirational presentation to follow the GANDHIGIRI’, the aim of which was to keep the environment neat and clean.  

After this a presentation was given by Dr. Raj Mehrotra, Project Coordinator, Regional Science City, Lucknow for developing culture of innovation through slides focusing on Mahatma Gandhi’s views on how to improve our education and cleanliness.He also said that “cleanliness is the best service to mankind” and this program is the initiation of this service. In his presentation he also informed students about how Mahatma Gandhi promoted science and technology in day to-day life. He also depicted various aspects of Gandhiji’s life in a very interactive manner.
